My name is David Ford. I am a graduate of the class of 2011 at Kimball Jr./Sr. High School, in Kimball, NE. I am attending WNCC in Scottsbluff, NE, focusing on Information Technology.

I have shown an interest in computers since I was very young. At around age seven, our family was gifted our first computer – a Gateway All-In-One, running Windows 98, with 64 megabytes of RAM, and a 2 gigabyte hard drive. Around age twelve or so, we bought a new computer – an HP Pavilion 512x. It sported a massive 512 megabytes of RAM, a 40 gigabyte hard drive, and a massive 15 inch CRT monitor! Just within the past two years, I have started building my own machines, for my own use, and for clients. My current machine is a custom-built system with an Intel Core i7 860, 8 gigabytes of RAM, an ATI Radeon 5770, two Samsung Spinpoint F3 drives (configured in RAID0), and an Intel 80 gigabyte solid state drive. I’ve also built computers for family, and a few friends.

Not only have I been interested in hardware, but also software– mainly operating systems. I consider myself rather seasoned in Windows – ranging from Windows 98 to Windows 7 (Including Windows 2003 server). I also have a great deal of experience in a Unix/Linux environment. I’ve used many distributions of Linux, including Debian, CentOS, Gentoo, Fedora, Ubuntu, Ubuntu Server, and OpenSUSE. Included in the UNIX based operating systems, I have advanced experience in the Mac (OS X) desktop environment, as well. As with software, I am rather proficient with VMware (all desktop versions). I am also experienced with the Microsoft Office Suite.

Aside from hardware and software, I have many other miscellaneous qualifications. I completed the Advanced Computer Microcomputer Applications class offered through WNCC as a junior, with an A in the class. I also completed Kimball High School’s Web Design class (HTML 4 and CSS 2.0) as a sophomore. I enjoy audio mixing and editing, as well as video editing and creation. I’ve been doing freelance computer repair and virus/malware removal for upwards of three years now.

Broadcasting is also a very prevalent passion of mine – particularly audio broadcasting. I’ve been interested in broadcasting and radio for roughly the last three or four years. Added in my interest to broadcast, is voiceover work. I’ve been doing voiceover work pro bono for about the past year, mainly on the RadioDaddy website.

As you can see, I have a great deal of experience and interest in technology. I am quite excited to further my technological skills.
